Coach William F. Bozeman's football team had a tough year, exacerbated by the tragic mid-season loss of a player due to an auto accident. On the field they posted one victory against five losses, and scored a lone touchdown and a safety while giving up a total of 208 points.

Ten days after making a tackle behind the goal line for a safety against Benton, Oil City quarterback Auvil Rape was injured in an auto accident and died in hospital the following day. Several fellow players served as pall bearers at his funeral.
