Oil City High Football - 1954 (District 1-B Champs)

The final high school edition of the Oil City Tigers had a successful season, posting seven wins against two losses and a tie. Crowned District 1-B champs, their playoff hopes came to an abrupt end in the first round in a 34-6 road loss to Delhi.

The final high school homecoming, though the junior high would continue the tradition for several years. Also identified as the largest crowd to attend a home game in Oil City. Unfortunately the visiting Hornets were the victors.




Sarepta was later forced to forfeit all games during the 1954 season when it was disclosed they had been using overage players.

Though the Sarepta game had been reported earlier as the last Oil City High home game, the season finale against Mooringsport was apparently the final home contest.

In its last ever football game as a high school, Oil City was beaten soundly by Delhi.
