PART IV: APPENDIX

The following list identifies individuals who had been ordered to report for service by the local draft board during 1917-1918. They are chronologically sorted as appearing in newspapers, with each list beginning with reporting site, names of those ordered, and the newspaper source at the end.

All were residents of Oil City (or Caddo City, if so noted) at the time of their draft registration. Not all may have actually served, as some likely failed their physical;. or were released for other reasons. Those notified to report for duty during what turned out to be the final weeks of the war may have had those orders subsequently rescinded, or may have served stateside, depending on manpower needs of the time.

Details of men who have been confirmed to have served are disclosed in a separate section of this work titled " Answering Their Nation's Call." To preserve the integrity of the list below as originally created, some of those names are repeated here, denoted by "(S)" for "Served.".

As with that list, birth date, birthplace, and occupation/employer generally were obtained from the individual's draft registration found on Ancestry.com. Burial details come from findagrave.com, with some exceptions where obituaries and other documents were used.
